² Abraham said to his servant, the oldest of his household, who supervised his property, “Place your hand under my thigh^{[a] 3} and swear to the Lord, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites among whom we live. ⁴ Rather, go to my homeland, to my family, and choose a wife for my son Isaac.”
